 Dr. Barrie was born
on a cattle farm in Northern Canada. He
began his first career as an engineer,
later deciding to pursue a career in
medicine, and received his medical
doctor degree from Louisiana State
University, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
He then moved to California to complete
his residency at Jan Joaquin General
Hospital in Stockton and the University
of California in San Francisco. He is
board certified in Obstetrics and
Gynecology. Dr. Barrie is past chief of
the Department of Obstetrics at
Washington Hospital, past President of
the Board of Directors for Washington
Hospital’s Birthing Center and currently
serves on the Board of Directors for
Washington Outpatient Surgery Center.
Dr. Barrie has been
practicing in the Fremont area for
thirty years, where he and his wife
raised one son. In his spare time he
enjoys flying (he is an instrument rated
licensed pilot), gardening, tennis and
music.
